Vestaboard

Inspired by split-flap displays found in old train stations and airports, Vestaboard is a digitally controlled, yet wonderfully analog messaging board. The app lets you send a heartfelt message or colorful art composition to the board from anywhere in the world. Integrations with other software also allow you to automatically display calendar events, sports scores, or inspirational quotes.

Starting with a simple idea, Vestaboard was a labor of love by a dedicated founder and a small team. I worked closely with them and led the industrial design effort on the Bould Design side. While the result is strikingly simple, every aspect of the design was scrutinized to create a high-quality, elegant artifact that let the message and the delightful spinning of the flaps take center stage.
